About Me

Hi there. I’m Louise, a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, coach and wellbeing practitioner with over 16 years’ experience supporting others to feel calmer, clearer and more in control.
My Background
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist and Coach, having completed extensive diploma qualifications and ongoing CPD in each of these disciplines.
My previous therapeutic experience includes working as an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Counsellor, delivering evidence-based psychotherapy to clients referred through NHS primary care.
Alongside my private practice offering a combination of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, coaching and holistic therapies to individuals presenting with a wide range of support needs, I also offer consultancy as part of the team at Stratego Consulting.
I continue my organisational work within the Higher Education sector where I develop policy, advise, train and support staff on complex welfare, safeguarding, crisis, behavioural and disability-related issues pertaining to students within accommodation settings. I have been involved in supporting staff and students with welfare and conduct concerns in HE for 16 years.
Within Higher Education, I also provide professional and personal coaching to staff, focused on enhancing their personal effectiveness and performance.
Why am I passionate about supporting others?
I may be a therapist, but I am also human. I experience the same ups and downs as anyone else: stress and occasional burnout, grief and loss, life transitions, uncertainty, and unexpected change. I understand what it’s like to juggle the demands of work, study, and family life, often all at once.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, a pioneer of mindfulness in the West, coined the term “Full Catastrophe Living.” This reflects the reality of being alive. Catastrophe arises, but if we can live fully irrespective of challenges that come up and learn to develop the skills to remain in a place of calm, compassion, acceptance and resilience, we are able to centre ourselves, similar to being at peace in the eye of the storm as it circles around us.
We are frequently switched on and busy, constantly connected with work via technology, bombarded with messages about how we should look, behave, and be, whether as partners, sons, daughters, or parents. There can be an unspoken expectation to remain positive, resilient, and to keep going, no matter what. This pressure can feel overwhelming.
It’s no surprise that many people find themselves feeling anxious, stressed, low, or confused, experiencing a wide range of emotions, whilst needing to continue to manage their daily responsibilities and commitments, which can also include caring for everyone else. In doing so, it’s easy to overlook personal boundaries, suppress one’s own needs and increasingly more difficult to switch off and find time for ourselves to simply be, do what we love, reflect and process.
Having listened to hundreds of people, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced at different stages of life. I have seen first-hand how powerful compassionate, unbiased, and confidential support can be. It is a privilege to walk alongside people on their journeys towards healing, growth, transformation, and a greater sense of balance.
How I Work and What to Expect
My approach is honest, collaborative and centred around helping you feel safe, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change.
I offer tailored therapy that recognises you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms or a problem to solve. Every individual brings their own history and way of experiencing the world, so our sessions are shaped around helping you explore what you need most in this moment and working with you to make this a reality. Together, we explore your world and experiences and find the tools and techniques that feel right for you.
You will receive:
- One-to-one confidential sessions tailored to your individual needs, and at a pace that you feel comfortable with.
- Delivered in an environment that feels right for you (Online, In-Person, In Nature, or At Home)
Professional Memberships
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means I adhere to this professional body's Ethical Code of Conduct and standards of best practice. You can find my directory listing with the BACP here.
I am also a registered practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR). This Register is composed of individual practitioners and is open to any hypnotherapist who is able to satisfy the criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as periodically determined by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).
